Join the Mission

As Latinos become the largest minority in higher education but don’t yet achieve the same outcomes as other groups, our institutions need to do more to give them a fair shot at realizing their dreams. We need Excelencia to accelerate Latino student success.

Momentum is Building

Excelencia in Education’s mission is to accelerate Latino student success in higher education, thereby expanding our country’s human capital and leadership. Linking research, policy, and practice, Excelencia promotes institutional practices and educational policies that support Latino student achievement.

Momentum is building

Our guiding theory of action is as follows - we can make a measurable difference in increasing Latino student success in higher education by:

  • building a social movement that is informing decision makers, showing them what can be done, and holding them accountable;
  • working within institutions and organizations within sectors to provide assistance and compel action; and
  • creating a supportive community of action-oriented advocates.
